Privacy Policy for MovieInsight

At MovieInsight, your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect and use information through our Chrome extension.

What Information We Collect

MovieInsight collects minimal data to function effectively. Specifically, the extension:

Stores the title of your current Netflix watching content (name and episode information) locally on your browser using your browser's local storage.
Sends movie titles to our backend service temporarily for the purpose of processing breakdowns (pre-watch and post-watch).
- No personal identifiers (such as name, email, or account info) are sent.
- We do not persist or log this data beyond the immediate use.

How We Use Your Data

We use the information we collect solely to enhance your viewing experience by providing:

Pre-watch movie insights
Post-watch breakdowns

We do not use this data for marketing, profiling, or any unrelated purpose.

Where Your Data Is Stored

Watched content information is stored only in your local browser storage.
When you request a breakdown, the title is sent to our backend service temporarily to process the response.

No user accounts, login details, or personal browsing history are collected or stored.

User Authentication

While we may introduce optional user accounts in the future, this feature is not currently in use. If and when that changes, this policy will be updated accordingly.

Your Rights and Choices

You may delete the local data stored by the extension at any time by removing or resetting the extension via Chrome settings.

CCPA Privacy Rights (Do Not Sell My Personal Information)

Under the CCPA, among other rights, California consumers have the right to:

Request that a business that collects a consumer's personal data disclose the categories and specific pieces of personal data that a business has collected about consumers.
Request that a business delete any personal data about the consumer that a business has collected.
Request that a business that sells a consumer's personal data, not sell the consumer's personal data.

If you make a request, we have one month to respond to you. If you would like to exercise any of these rights, please contact us.
